3 REASONS TO HAVE AN EXTENDED FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION | SAN DIEGO PHOTOGRAPHER
IF YOU’VE BEEN WANTING EXTENDED FAMILY PHOTOS BUT HAVEN’T BOOKED YOUR SESSION YET, HERE ARE THREE REASONS YOU NEED TO DO IT…
#1: LIFE IS SHORT BUT PHOTOGRAPHY LIVES ON
I’m not trying to sound morbid or negative but I can speak from my own experience: I’ve lost loved ones to illness, and old age. I wish more than anything I had more photos with them. I wish I had more quality photos [not the ones on my iPhone] of my children with their great grandmother- one of the sweetest ladies to grace this planet. Sadly, I don’t. But the few photos I do have of our entire family together when she was looking and feeling great are some of my favorite.
#2: YOU WONT REGRET HAVING TOO MANY PHOTOS, BUT YOU WILL REGRET NOT HAVING ENOUGH
I can’t say I’ve ever thought to myself “Geez, I have too many photos with my mom. I wish I didn’t have so many adorable shots of my kids being cuddled by their beloved grandparents Mimi and Grumps”. Have you?
The relationships with our extended family are some of the most cherished in our lives. Photography helps the visual memory of these relationships live on vividly and not only in our minds.
#3: EXTENDED FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY IS THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING
Multiple generations benefit from extended family photography. Grandparents can brag to their friends about their amazing family. Parents can appreciate having photos with all of their favorite people together. Children can grow up and see what their parents and grandparents looked like in their prime. And let’s face it: In 10 years most of us will likely wish we looked like we do today. We might as well document our families as we are right now so we can appreciate it later. :) Even if you feel like your kids will be crazy and out of control- embrace the crazy. You may feel stressed now but in 5 years you’ll look back and smile remembering your session and you’ll wish you could be there again. I promise!
