HOW TO FIND THE A GREAT FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER WHILE ON VACATION

I LOVE MEETING FAMILIES VACATIONING IN SAN DIEGO. INFACT, A HUGE PORTION OF MY CLIENTS ARE PEOPLE WHO VACATIONERS. SOME REVISIT YEAR-AFTER-YEAR. OTHERS TRAVEL HERE ONCE [BUT I KNOW THEY WILL BE BACK EVENTUALLY ;) ]

VACATION IS A GREAT TIME FOR FAMILY PHOTOS

I encourage my San Diego clients to book family photography sessions while they are on vacation because it’s a great way to get beautiful images and memories while in a new location. A way for your family to remember the trip together. I take my own advice and book sessions for my own family while we are away. A huge key to this being successful is finding the right photographer for you.

3 TIPS ON FINDING A GREAT FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER

  1. WORD OF MOUTH

Do you have a friend who recently had a family photography session at the same destination? If so, look at their images. If you love what you see, that’s a great start!

  2. SURF THE WEB

So many of my clients find me via Google and searching for San Diego Family Photographer, or San Diego Beach Photographer. When I’m planning my family’s vacation [if I don’t already have a photographer friend who lives in the city we are visiting] I turn to google and search with similar keywords “city + family photographer”. Scroll past the google ads and start looking at photographer websites. I also like to click on the “images” tab in my google search and look for photos that I love- this helps me find talented photographers with the style I’m looking for.

The other thing I like to look at are their google reviews. How many do they have? Are they favorable? What are other people saying in the reviews? This will give you a good idea of what it’s like to work with this person.

You can also visit ‘the gram’ and do a hashtag search for the same keywords I mentioned above. Look through images and find photographer profiles. I like to click through their stories, reels, and posts to get a feel for their shooting style and personality. If they seem like someone that is fun, and great with kids I know I’m on the right track!

  3. BOOK EARLY

It’s such a bummer to find a photographer that has beautiful work, seems super fun- only to send an inquiry and find out they are booked solid during the time you’re visiting their city. They might be able to give you referrals to other photographers that are great, but you may be back to square one. The early bird gets the worm! My advice to you is to book as early as you are able to ensure you are able to have the photographer you want.
