MUST HAVE TOYS AND GAMES FOR QUARANTINE

BEING IN QUARANTINE IS NOT EASY BUT I’VE FOUND THE FOLLOWING TOYS AND GAMES HAVE HELPED MY FAMILY STAY SANE, MAKE SOME TIME GO BY, AND HAVE FUN ALONG THE WAY. I’VE TRIED TO INCLUDE AS MANY LINKS AS POSSIBLE. LET ME KNOW IF YOU PICK ANY OF THESE UP AND HOW YOU LIKE THEM!

BACKYARD INFLATABLE POOL

With the uncertainty of public pools being allowed to open this spring and summer, if you don’t already have a permanent pool in your backyard this might be your next purchase. But don’t wait- I heard these will probably be the next hot item to sell out. With the weather warming up here in San Diego my kids are loving having something to splash around in.

MAGNATILES

Magnatiles are worth the investment [warning- they are a little pricy but imitation brands are NOT the same]. These toys are great for kids of all ages. My boys and I loved going to the Children’s museum and playing with the magnatiles there so much that I finally bit the bullet and bought some for our home. They are a huge hit and my kiddos love to incorporate other toys into their magnatile playtime. During quarantine they’ve even started taking the magnatiles to the backyard and building structures in the shade.

SPOT IT

My kids and I all love this game. There are so many different versions too! We started with Spot It Junior and for Easter they got the original Spot It. I just saw on the Target website they have college versions of Spot It! It’s a game that I believe is great for all ages because it helps keep your brain sharp. I plan to gift it to my parents also so they can keep their brains working quickly!

FARKLE

Farkle is a risk taking, dice rolling game that at first may seem slightly complicated- but once you get the hang of it, it is super easy and FUN! My 7 year old is able to keep track of his score and LOVES to risk it all and keep rolling the dice! Usually it pays off for him too, he often beats me!

SPEAK AND SPELL

I feel like most households in the 1980’s had a speak and spell- I know we did! I purchased this at Easter as an impulse buy prompted by nostalgia. I was pleasantly surprised that my kids love it. I wondered if it wouldn’t be technologically stimulating since kids these days have computers and complicated gaming systems but my boys love playing the mystery word game where they have to try to guess the word by guessing one letter at a time [like Wheel of Fortune- which they are also very into right now].

PUZZLES

Our non-quarantine lives are so busy I can’t remember the last time we slowed down and put a puzzle together. But since we aren’t supposed to leave the house for anything non-essential we have a lot more time on our hands and we have been enjoying putting together jigsaw puzzles!

I LOVE TO HEAR WHAT YOUR FAMILY IS LOVING WHILE YOU ARE HOME TOGETHER. COMMENT BELOW WITH YOUR FAVORITE GAMES AND TOYS AND ANY MUST-HAVE ITEMS FOR THE BACKYARD!

STAY HEALTHY FRIENDS!
