BEST PLACES TO EAT AROUND SAN DIEGO

Any meal I don’t have to cook myself is a good meal in my book! I’ve compiled a list of my favorite restaurants around San Diego for anyone looking for good eats you dont have to cook yourself.

Sushi

Zen 5

Hands down my favorite place for sushi. I’ve been coming here for almost 20 years and it’s a staple in my diet. You can find me here parked at a table with my laptop after a photoshoot on the beach and with my best friend and our kids after amazing summertime playdates at the beach. We always start with Sapporos, edamame, and miso soup. Then we enjoy some delicious rolls. If you aren’t sure what to order, let me help you out by telling you exactly what rolls to order:

Samurai Da Kine Timmy Teka Maki Caterpillar Spider Crunch Lobster

I’m sure there are other great ones- let me know if you try one that’s not on my list. The kids love the chicken teriyaki kids meal.

Yummy Sushi

After a session at Hotel del Coronado a family told me they were going to order take-out from Yummy Sushi. Since I usually like to grab some food and start editing after my sessions, I decided to check this place out and I’ve been back every time I have beach session in Coronado. I like the spicy tiger roll and the sushi chef behind the bar always picks some great nigiri pieces for me.

Hane

The #1 reason I love this place is the beer. I don’t know what the special tap is they have but it makes the beer SO COLD that beer glaciers form in my glass. The food I’ve had is great, but the main reason I want to return is for the beer glaciers.

Super Family Friendly

Amplified Ale Works

With multiple locations around San Diego [Pacific Beach, East Village, Lemon Grove] Amplified Ale Works is my go-to for a day-date with the hubs, lunch with friends, or family meal on the weekends. The beer is tasty and I dream about the Döner Fries with lamb more often that I should admit. Also, I must confess: it’s the only thing I’ve ever ordered because they are THAT good. For real- try them- and thank me later. :) They are big enough to share and are even decent heated up as leftovers. If you want to branch out and try other menu items, my girlfriends love and highly recommend the chicken and rice bowls, and my kids love the quesadillas.
