HOW TO TAKE A GOOD BUSINESS HEADSHOT
WANT TO KNOW THE BEST TIP FOR TAKING A GETTING A GOOD PHOTO OF YOURSELF FOR BUSINESS OR YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?
THE ANSWER IS DO SOMETHING TOTALLY WEIRD THAT YOU KNOW WILL LOOK HORRIBLE.
By doing something to try to make the photo look bad you will:
1. Have something to laugh hysterically at later
2. Laugh as soon as you realize how ridiculous you must look. That real laugh is going to be the real you and give you an authentic, and beautiful photo where you look relaxed and joyous.
Take the photo above as an example. I was having headshots taken at the 2020 Photo Native conference in Santa Barbara, California by the talented Justin Hackworth. I love being behind the camera but most of the time feel awkward when it’s my turn to be on the other side of the lens. I’m a silly person by nature so just to be a goofball I made this face.
Does it look like I just pooped my pants?
Yes.
Could this photo be embarrassing?
For sure- I mean, I don’t look very GOOD making this face. But it made me laugh thinking about how I looked like a total weirdo and the shot he got after this one was my favorite of the day.
